Last month, I took a trip to Boston - with baby girl in tow ;) - to visit family and friends.
The trip was timed perfectly to enjoy Patriot's Day in Lexington on April 19th. A big thanks to my dad for crawling out of bed at 4:00am so we could make it to the battlegreen in time for the reinactment! After we watched the redcoats beat the minutemen, we headed to St. Brigid's Church basement for their annual pancake breakfast - yum! We then headed back to Lowell for a much needed nap before going back into Lexington for the afternoon parade. What a fun day that was! And who knows, maybe next year we'll finally beat those redcoats...
During the week, we took a day trip to Rockport where we enjoyed the flavors of New England - clam chowder and salt water taffy. After lunch, we traveled down Bearskin Neck to do some shopping and take pictures of Motif #1. Alas, the infamous streudel shop was not open yet for the season - just another reason to travel back there next year! Before we left, we strolled down to view the rock wall (which this pregnant lady safely enjoyed from a distance).
I was thrilled to be able to catch up with so many friends and relatives during my visit: lunch with cousins Margaret & Callie, dinner with Aunt Suz & Uncle Ray, meals with friends (Lauren, Caitlin, Mere/Augie/Jeff, Jenny, & Anne). It's no surprise that food was present at all of these get-togethers - "eating for two" took on a literal meaning during this vacation.
While I was there for almost two weeks, there was so much still to do and loved ones still to see. This just means that when we visit next year we'll have to do those things first!
Here are some photos from the trip:
