My dad, who had flown in earlier to Dallas, drove down along with my sister and niece and joined us in Waco Saturday morning. First on the agenda? Breakfast of course! We enjoyed a wonderful meal at a local property known as Homestead Heritage. Once we gobbled down our freshly-made French toast and sausage links we proceeded to roam the property. I was amazed at all they had, from a gristmill to a herb garden and a pottery house. Even more amazing was how easily they are able to live off the land - it reminds me of those simpler times that grandparents are always telling us "young'ins" about.
Later that afternoon, Marshall and I took the opportunity to walk around the Baylor campus and show Avery where her parents went to college and where we met and fell in love. Will she be in the class of 2031? Only if she chooses to go there AND only if we can afford it!
On Saturday night, while Caitlin and Avery shared some precious bonding time over toys, we began grilling out a wonderful dinner in honor of my sis-in-law Candis' birthday, which was earlier that week. Her parents came over and my mom drove down from Dallas to share in the festivities.
Great weekend, full of lots of delicious food, and more importantly fond memories with the "Carvey crew". We must do this again soon!
